Meet Carol
Carol was the licensed voice of one of the oldest rivers in the world, the Susquehanna, and in her work as its Riverkeeper, she was healed by her water.
Her strong connection with nature began in Carol’s childhood, where she swam and paddled both recreationally and competitively in open waters. She holds an environmental engineering (water) degree from Penn State University.
She founded Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association and served as its inaugural Riverkeeper, where she and the organization received numerous honors and recognitions: Woman of the Susquehanna River Watershed, Pennsylvania River of the Year, PA Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence, People Who Make a Difference, and an appointment to the PA Environmental Justice Advisory Board.
Carol has been recognized as a Carnegie Woman in STEM, and her water-focused career was spotlighted by Wiley Publishing in "Global Environmental Careers: The Worldwide Green Jobs Resource."
Carol holds certifications as a Mindfulness Outdoor Guide and Blue Water Therapist. The author of 36 books, she has presented to audiences both young and “seasoned,” nationally and internationally.
